Website redesign cost in India (2026): refresh vs full redesign vs migration, with prices
What a redesign actually costs in India in 2026, how to tell whether you need a refresh, a full rebuild or a platform move, what drives the price, and the checklist that stops a redesign from losing the Google rankings you already have, from a Jind-based agency that has redesigned hundreds of business sites since 2017.
Short answer: A website redesign in India costs ₹9,999 – ₹25,000 for a design refresh that keeps your pages and content on a new, faster theme; ₹25,000 – ₹75,000 for a full redesign with a new structure, rewritten content and new photos across 10 to 20 pages; ₹40,000 – ₹1,50,000 when it includes moving platforms, changing URLs and protecting your rankings with a redirect map; and ₹65,000 – ₹2,50,000 for an online store. The price is driven by content and migration work, not by design. The risk is not the cost; it is losing the Google traffic the old site had, which happens to roughly one in three redesigns we are asked to rescue. The checklist below prevents it.

Refresh, full redesign or migration: which do you need?
Most businesses ask for a redesign when they mean one of three different jobs. Pick the right one and you save half the budget.
- Design refresh. Your pages and content are right, but the site looks five years old, loads slowly, breaks on phones or has a form nobody answers. The fix is a new theme, new images, a sticky call and WhatsApp bar, speed work and tracking. URLs and content stay. Signs: traffic is steady, enquiries are low, PageSpeed under 50 on mobile.
- Full redesign. The structure no longer matches what you sell: services you offer have no page, services you stopped still rank, the homepage talks about 2019, and the content was written by the previous vendor. The fix is a new sitemap, rewritten pages, new photos and a new design, with old URLs redirected where they change. Signs: you explain your business on the phone because the site does not; Google ranks you for the wrong things.
- Redesign with migration. The site is on a platform you cannot maintain (a proprietary builder, an old PHP build, a vendor’s account), has been hacked more than once, or cannot be edited by your team. The fix is a rebuild on WordPress with every page, image and URL mapped, redirects for anything that changes, and the domain and hosting moved into your name. Signs: the vendor has disappeared, updates cost a fortune, or you have read our hacked-site guide more than once.
Website redesign cost in India by type (2026)
| Redesign type | What is included | One-time cost | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Design refresh (5–10 pages) | New theme and layout, existing content and URLs kept, image compression and speed work, mobile fixes, call and WhatsApp bar, forms rewired, tracking, Google Business link check | ₹9,999 – ₹25,000 | 1 – 2 weeks |
| Full redesign (10–20 pages) | New sitemap, rewritten content, new photos or stock selection, service pages for everything you sell, redirects for changed URLs, schema and meta rewrite, speed, tracking, training | ₹25,000 – ₹75,000 | 3 – 6 weeks |
| Redesign with migration | All of the above plus platform move to WordPress, content and media export, full URL map and 301 redirects, blog migration, domain and hosting moved to your name, ranking monitoring for four weeks | ₹40,000 – ₹1,50,000 | 4 – 8 weeks |
| Online store redesign | Product, customer and order migration, new theme and checkout, payment and shipping re-integration, category and product URL redirects, test orders | ₹65,000 – ₹2,50,000 | 4 – 10 weeks |
Hosting, domain and a care plan add ₹3,000 – ₹15,000 a year. GST at 18% is extra on agency fees unless the quote says inclusive. For new builds compare the WordPress website cost guide; for stores the ecommerce cost guide.

What drives the price up or down
Two redesigns of the same 12-page site can differ by ₹50,000. Six things explain the gap.
- Who writes the content. If you send approved text for every page, the redesign is mostly design. If the agency rewrites 15 pages, add ₹1,000 – ₹2,500 per page. Content is the single biggest variable and the usual cause of delay.
- Photos. A half-day shoot (₹5,000 – ₹15,000) replaces the stock images that make every redesign look like every other redesign. Phone photos in daylight, selected by us, are the budget option.
- Number of URLs that change. Every changed or removed URL needs a redirect and a check. Fifty URLs are an afternoon; two thousand blog posts and product pages are a project.
- Platform move. Leaving Wix, Squarespace, a custom PHP build or an old theme means exporting content that was never meant to be exported, and rebuilding features the old platform did invisibly (forms, galleries, booking widgets).
- Integrations. CRM, booking engine, payment gateway, WhatsApp API, Google Ads conversion tracking and pixels all have to be reconnected and tested. Each is a line in a good quote.
- Languages and locations. Hindi versions and per-city pages multiply the page count; see how we handle them in the school, clinic and real estate guides.
The SEO checklist that protects your rankings
A redesign changes the things Google uses to rank you: URLs, titles, headings, content, speed and internal links. Done carelessly, traffic drops the week after launch and takes months to recover. This is the checklist we run on every redesign; ask any agency you brief for the same.
- Export the current rankings before touching anything. Search Console: top pages and queries for the last 12 months. Analytics: pages with traffic and conversions. These are the pages you must not lose.
- Keep URLs that work. If a page ranks, keep its URL exactly, even if the design changes completely. Change URLs only when there is a real reason.
- Build a redirect map before launch. Every old URL that changes or disappears gets a 301 redirect to the most relevant new page, not to the homepage. Include images and PDFs people link to.
- Carry over titles, descriptions and headings on ranking pages. Improve them, but do not replace a title that ranks with a clever one that does not.
- Do not delete content because it is old. Merge or update pages that get traffic; redirect pages that are merged.
- Rebuild internal links. Menus, footers and in-content links to the pages that matter, in the new structure.
- Match or beat the old speed. A heavier theme with bigger images is a common reason rankings slip after a “better” design.
- Keep schema and tracking. Business, FAQ and product schema, Google Analytics, Search Console, Meta Pixel and Google Ads conversions all have to be present on launch day.
- Launch on staging first, test every form, then switch. Submit the new sitemap, check robots and noindex settings (a staging noindex left on the live site is a classic), and crawl for 404s.
- Watch Search Console for four weeks. Fix 404s and crawl errors daily in week one, and compare clicks and impressions against the export from step one.
What to keep from the old site
More than you think. The domain, obviously. The pages and blog posts that bring traffic, with their URLs. Real photos of your team, premises and work. Reviews and testimonials with names. Google Business Profile, Analytics and Search Console properties, which stay attached to the domain. Forms’ recipient addresses and the WhatsApp number everyone has saved. What to drop: stock photos, the “welcome to our website” paragraph, sliders, pages for services you no longer sell (after redirecting them), and any plugin or script nobody can explain.
Timeline and what we need from you
A refresh goes live in 1 to 2 weeks. A full redesign takes 3 to 6 weeks once content and photos are approved. A redesign with migration takes 4 to 8 weeks because the redirect map and testing cannot be rushed. To start, you provide:
- Admin access to the current site, hosting and domain, or the name of whoever has it
- Search Console and Analytics access, or permission for us to set them up in your name
- The list of services or products you sell today, and the ones you have stopped
- Content you want kept, content to rewrite, and who approves the final text within 48 hours
- Logo files, brand colours if any, photos, reviews
- Integrations in use: CRM, booking, payments, WhatsApp, ad accounts
Mistakes that make a redesign cost twice
- Redesigning without reading Search Console. The pages that bring customers get deleted because they looked unimportant.
- Changing every URL for a “cleaner structure” and skipping the redirects. Rankings gone in a week.
- Launching with the staging noindex still on. The site vanishes from Google until someone notices.
- Starting the design before the content exists. Design to placeholder text and the pages never fit.
- Choosing a heavier theme for the look and halving the PageSpeed score.
- Keeping the site on the old vendor’s account. The redesign is the moment to move domain, hosting and all accounts into your name; see what to check before hiring a web designer.
- No plan for after launch. Updates, backups and security are what stop the next redesign being a rescue; see the website maintenance cost guide.

FAQ
How much does a website redesign cost in India in 2026?
₹9,999 – ₹25,000 for a design refresh that keeps your pages and content on a new theme; ₹25,000 – ₹75,000 for a full redesign with a new structure, rewritten content and new photos across 10 to 20 pages; ₹40,000 – ₹1,50,000 when the redesign includes a platform migration with URL changes, redirects and SEO preservation; and ₹65,000 – ₹2,50,000 for an online store redesign. Hosting, domain and a care plan add ₹3,000 – ₹15,000 a year.
Do I need a refresh or a full redesign?
A refresh if your pages and content are right but the site looks dated, is slow or works badly on phones. A full redesign if the structure no longer matches what you sell, the content is out of date, pages are missing for services you offer, or enquiries have dropped despite traffic. A migration if the site is on a platform you cannot maintain, hacked repeatedly, or built by a vendor who has disappeared.
Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?
It can, and it is the most common way businesses lose traffic. Rankings drop when URLs change without 301 redirects, when pages that ranked are deleted or merged without redirects, when titles and headings are rewritten carelessly, or when the new site is slower. Keep URLs where possible, redirect every old URL that changes, keep the pages that bring traffic, and watch Search Console for four weeks after launch.
How long does a website redesign take?
One to two weeks for a refresh, three to six weeks for a full redesign once content and photos are ready, and four to eight weeks for a redesign with migration because of the redirect map and testing. Content rewriting is the usual delay, so decide early who writes and who approves.
Can I keep my domain, hosting and content?
Yes, and you should. The domain and hosting stay in your name, and content, images and the blog are migrated. If the old site was built on a vendor’s account or a proprietary builder, the redesign is the moment to move everything into accounts you own. Insist on a written list of accounts and who holds the password before work starts.
Is it cheaper to redesign or build new?
For a 5 to 10 page business site the price is similar either way, from ₹9,999 for a fresh WordPress build to ₹25,000 for a refresh, because the work is mostly design and setup. Redesign costs more than a new build only when there is a lot of content to migrate or a platform to move away from; then the extra cost is buying the rankings and content you already have.
