Android app development cost in India (2026): real price ranges by app type
What an Android app actually costs to build and run in India in 2026, from a Jind-based agency that has shipped business, booking, delivery and marketplace apps to Google Play since 2017. Build cost by app type, what drives the price, the monthly bills nobody mentions, and how to launch for less.
Short answer: An Android app in India costs ₹49,999 – ₹1,00,000 for a business app with a catalogue or services, enquiry, booking and push notifications; ₹75,000 – ₹2,00,000 once you add user accounts, online payments and an admin panel; ₹3,00,000 – ₹10,00,000 for on-demand or marketplace apps that need a customer app, a partner app and a dashboard; and ₹10 lakh upwards for enterprise apps with ERP, hardware or offline-sync requirements. On top of the build, budget ₹2,000 – ₹15,000 a month for servers, OTP SMS, push, maps and a care plan. The number of screens matters far less than the number of user types and integrations; that is where quotes double.

Android app cost in India by app type (2026)
These are the ranges Indian businesses actually pay registered agencies in 2026 for an app that is published on Google Play in the client’s name, not a template demo or a wrapped website. The build cost is one-time. The yearly running cost covers hosting, third-party services at typical usage and basic maintenance.
| App type | Typical examples | One-time build | Yearly running cost | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business app (4–8 screens, no login) | Shop or showroom catalogue, clinic or salon booking, school notices, restaurant menu and offers, service enquiry with WhatsApp and push | ₹49,999 – ₹1,00,000 | ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 | 4 – 6 weeks |
| App with accounts, payments and admin | Ordering app for a store, loyalty and rewards, tuition or gym app with fees, society or membership app, booking with online payment | ₹75,000 – ₹2,00,000 | ₹30,000 – ₹1,00,000 | 6 – 10 weeks |
| On-demand / marketplace (customer app + partner app + dashboard) | Local delivery, home services, cab or ambulance booking, multi-vendor store, rental or real-estate listings with agents | ₹3,00,000 – ₹10,00,000 | ₹1,00,000 – ₹4,00,000 | 3 – 6 months |
| Enterprise / custom | Field-force or sales app with ERP sync, inventory with barcode scanning, offline-first data collection, IoT or device integration | ₹10,00,000+ | ₹2,00,000+ | 4 – 9 months |
Android only. Running cost assumes a managed cloud server, OTP SMS and push at a few thousand users, and a basic care plan. GST at 18% is extra on agency fees unless the quote says inclusive. If the app is mainly a storefront, compare with an ecommerce website first; many businesses need the website before the app.
What drives the price up or down
Two apps with the same number of screens can differ by ₹3 lakh. Seven things explain almost all of that gap.
- Number of user types. One user type (customers) is a business app. Two (customers and delivery partners, patients and doctors, students and teachers) means two apps or two experiences, two sets of notifications and a dashboard to manage both. This is the single biggest multiplier.
- Accounts and OTP login. Login means a backend, a database, OTP SMS, password or session handling, profile screens and data-protection responsibilities. It is what moves a business app into the next tier.
- Payments. Razorpay, PhonePe or Cashfree integration with UPI, cards and wallets, plus refunds, invoices and reconciliation, adds ₹25,000 – ₹80,000 depending on the flows.
- Admin panel. Almost every app with accounts needs a web dashboard for the business to manage users, orders, content and reports. Budget ₹40,000 – ₹2,00,000 for it; our admin dashboard checklist explains what goes into one.
- Real-time and location features. Live tracking, chat, maps and geofencing need sockets, map APIs and battery-aware code. Each adds weeks.
- Integrations. Tally or ERP sync, WhatsApp Business API, SMS gateways, Google Maps, biometric login, printers or scanners. Each integration is a separate line in a good quote.
- Design level and content readiness. A clean standard design with your branding sits at the low end. Custom illustrations, animations and a from-scratch design system add ₹30,000 – ₹1,50,000. Missing content (product data, policies, screenshots) delays launch more than any technical issue.
Android only, iOS too, or cross-platform
Android runs on well over 90% of phones in India. For a local business, a school, a clinic or a district-town delivery service, an Android-only app reaches almost every customer and costs 40 to 70% less than building both platforms. Add iOS when your customers are urban and premium, when you sell to NRIs or international users, or when investors and partners will judge you by an App Store listing.
| Approach | Relative cost | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native Android (Kotlin) | 1× | Android-first businesses, hardware or performance-heavy apps | Separate iOS build later if needed |
| Cross-platform (Flutter or React Native) | 1.3 – 1.5× | Both platforms from one codebase, startups, marketplaces | Slightly larger app, some device features need extra work |
| Native Android + native iOS | 1.7 – 2× | Large budgets, platform-specific polish | Two teams, two release cycles |
| Progressive web app (no store listing) | 0.3 – 0.6× | Content and ordering without install friction | Weaker push and offline support, no Play Store presence |
If you already have a Laravel or custom web backend, the app can reuse it and the saving is substantial; see our custom web application cost guide for the backend side.

Monthly running cost of an Android app in India
This is the budget line app owners forget. For an app with accounts and a few thousand users, expect:
A business app without accounts runs at the bottom of that range because it has no OTP, little server load and a simpler update cycle. Our care plans cover the Google Play policy work that most owners do not know is coming until the app is removed from the store.
Hidden costs first-time app owners miss
- Google Play policy and target-API updates. Google requires apps to target a recent Android version every year. An app that is not updated gets hidden from new users and eventually removed. Budget one maintenance release a year minimum.
- Developer account in the wrong name. The Play Console account (about $25 one-time) must be yours. If the agency publishes under its account, you do not own the listing, the reviews or the install base. The same applies to Firebase, the server and the domain.
- Closed testing before launch. New personal developer accounts must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before Google allows a production release. It is free but it adds two to three weeks if nobody planned it.
- Privacy policy and data safety form. Google requires a hosted privacy policy and a completed data-safety declaration. If your app collects phone numbers, you also have obligations under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Agencies often leave this to you; insist it is in scope.
- App store assets. Icon, feature graphic, screenshots for several screen sizes and a short description. Budget ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 if not included.
- Getting installs. Publishing is not marketing. A QR code in the shop, a WhatsApp broadcast, a link on the website and a small Google or Meta campaign are what get the first thousand installs; see our Meta ads and Google Ads services.
- Backend you cannot see. The app is the visible 40%. The server, database and admin panel are the other 60%, and a cheap quote often means they are missing or rented from the agency.
Timeline and Google Play review
A business app goes live in 4 to 6 weeks once content and branding are ready. An app with accounts, payments and an admin panel takes 6 to 10 weeks. On-demand and marketplace apps take 3 to 6 months because two apps and a dashboard have to work together. Google Play review itself takes from a few hours to a few days for an established account and up to two weeks for a brand-new one; add the 14-day closed test if the account is personal. The most common delays on our projects are waiting for the client’s developer account verification, payment-gateway approval and product or policy content.
How to launch for less without regretting it
- Launch with one user type. Customers only. Partners, delivery staff or doctors can be managed from the admin panel at first; build their app when volume justifies it.
- Reuse your website’s backend. If you run WooCommerce, Laravel or a CRM, the app can read and write to it instead of a new backend. This is often the difference between ₹75,000 and ₹2 lakh.
- Android first, iOS later. Or go cross-platform from day one if iOS is certain within a year.
- Standard design with your brand rather than custom illustrations for version one. Users care about speed and whether the order goes through.
- Use WhatsApp for what WhatsApp does well. Order confirmations and support can go through WhatsApp Business instead of in-app chat, which is expensive to build and moderate.
- Insist on a fixed written quote with a screen list, user types, integrations, admin panel, store listing, closed testing and 30 days of post-launch support spelled out. Hourly app quotes almost always run over.
How QTC prices Android apps (2026)

FAQ
How much does it cost to develop an Android app in India in 2026?
₹49,999 – ₹1,00,000 for a business app with catalogue, enquiry, booking and push notifications; ₹75,000 – ₹2,00,000 for an app with user login, online payments and an admin panel; ₹3,00,000 – ₹10,00,000 for on-demand or marketplace apps with separate customer and partner apps; and ₹10 lakh upwards for enterprise apps with ERP or hardware integrations. Add ₹2,000 – ₹15,000 a month to run it.
What is the cheapest way to get an Android app for my business?
A business app from ₹49,999 that wraps your core actions (catalogue or services, enquiry, WhatsApp, booking, offers and push notifications) around an existing website or backend, published on Google Play in your name. Launch with 4 to 6 screens, measure usage, then add logins and payments once customers actually use it.
How much does it cost to maintain an Android app per year?
Plan 15 to 20 percent of the build cost per year. That covers Google Play policy and target-API updates, Android version compatibility, bug fixes, server and database hosting (₹2,000 – ₹15,000 a month), OTP SMS, push and map API usage, and small feature changes. A care plan from ₹2,500 a month covers a typical business app.
How long does it take to build an Android app?
Four to six weeks for a business app, six to ten weeks for an app with logins, payments and an admin panel, and three to six months for on-demand or marketplace apps with two apps and a dashboard. Google Play review adds a few days to a couple of weeks for a new developer account.
Should I build for Android only or Android and iPhone?
For most Indian businesses, Android first: it is well over 90 percent of phones in India, and an Android-only build costs 40 to 70 percent less than both platforms. Add iOS when your customers are urban, premium or international. Cross-platform frameworks like Flutter or React Native let one codebase serve both at roughly 1.3 to 1.5 times the Android-only cost.
Do I need a Google Play developer account?
Yes, and it should be in your name, not the agency’s. It is a one-time fee of about $25 (roughly ₹2,100), plus identity verification. New personal accounts must run a closed test with at least 12 testers for two weeks before production release, so plan that into the timeline. Apple’s developer account, if you add iOS, is about $99 a year.
